I want to talk about why our team is making it a TOP PRIORITY that we defeat Los Angeles County DA Jackie Lacey and elect reform champion George Gascón in 8 days.

It’s the MOST important DA race happening this election for so many reasons. Here are some numbers that show why change is sorely needed in Los Angeles County:

• 22,000: This is the average daily population of Los Angeles County jails, making it the largest jail system in the world and one of the most troubled in the United States.

• 13: The Black incarceration rate is 13 times that of white people in LA and this is due to DA Lacey's pro-incarceration and anti-reform policies and her failure to support the critical reforms needed to rebuild LA County.

• 1: Because she is beholden to the police, only 1 police officer has been prosecuted for police illegal use of force under Lacey’s tenure. Every day, new cases of police brutality against our communities surface and these officers have yet to be held accountable.

• 23: Under her leadership, LA has sentenced more people to death than any other county in the country – all people of color. LA sends more people to death row than Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia combined.

These numbers are why we’re working so hard to bring reform to Los Angeles County and put an end to this cycle of mass incarceration.

In these final 8 days, it’s up to people like me and you, John, to step up and make sure we replace Lacey with a reform champion that’s ready to transform our justice systems.
