You know as well as I do that the Public Service Commission is in desperate need of change across the board. That's why I wanted to make sure you knew that my friend Monica Tranel – who is running for PSC District 4, which covers Lincoln, Sanders, Mineral, Missoula, Ravalli, Granite, and Powell counties – needs your support.

Monica is in a dead heat with her opponent, Jennifer Fielder, and she needs your help to make it to the finish line.

I hope you'll take a minute to read this message from climate leaders, Dr. Running and Amy Cilimburg, and chip in to help her these last few days before the Election!

Subject: climate crisis

Dear Friend,

Like you, we are alarmed to see the frightening consequences of climate change unfold around us -- from the extreme wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington to dangerous storms around the world. We also know that global climate scientists have been predicting this for the last thirty years.

While scientists have identified the problem, all of society must find solutions. In the case of the climate crisis, solutions will require public officials who will be leaders in building a sustainable economy fueled by low emission renewable energy.

Monica Tranel, who’s running for the Public Service Commission, will be that kind of leader. We are thrilled she is stepping up for this PSC seat.

I hope you will join us in
supporting Monica's efforts.

Local and state efforts are our most immediate point of action for addressing the climate crisis. A pivotal, but rather unnoticed, state agency that regulates investor owned electric utilities is the Public Service Commission. The PSC should be leading the state in developing policies to transition our electric power industry away from high carbon emission sources towards affordable, renewable, clean energy.

Unfortunately the current commissioners are looking in the rear view mirror and perpetuating carbon-intensive coal, oil and gas facilities of the past, such as Colstrip 4.

Similarly, Monica Tranel’s opponent, Jennifer Fielder, has publicly denied that climate change is caused by people.

Montanans cannot afford to elect another commissioner who refuses to acknowledge and follow facts, science and the law.

We must elect Monica Tranel to the Public Service Commission.

  • Monica Tranel has the experience we need on the PSC. She’s an attorney with 20 years in the industry, representing renewable energy developers in private practice. She has also served as a staff attorney for the Montana Consumer Counsel and for the PSC.

  • Monica Tranel has the drive to get things done. She is a two-time Olympic athlete (1996 and 2000) with an exceptional work ethic to accomplish her goals. As a lawyer, she has a reputation of being a fighter and coming up with solutions for her clients.

  • Monica Tranel understands what’s at stake. Monica is running for PSC to ensure her three daughters have a sustainable future.

Please join us in supporting Monica Tranel for Public Service Commission. Contribution limits are $180, which means your support will go a long way in helping Monica win this seat.

Will you please make a contribution to Monica’s campaign today? Monica is in a close race against Jennifer Fielder and every dollar will make a difference. The consequences are too high to stand by the wayside.

Thank you and stay well,

Dr. Steven W. Running

PS:  Monica needs to purchase two more weeks of radio. Your contribution will help support getting her message out in the final weeks before the Election!
