John,
The Animal Legal Defense Fund has filed a lawsuit against Dick Van Dam Dairy after an undercover investigation by Animal Outlook captured several of its supervisors and employees repeatedly jabbing and striking cows’ faces, legs, and udders with splintered wooden canes and metal pipes; kicking them in the face and udders; twisting their tails so hard the bone breaks; slamming metal gates on them; and poking fingers in cows’ eyes, among other painful methods regularly deployed on the farm.
Because of this urgent need, the $100,000 matching gift campaign has been extended! Every dollar you give before October 31 will make twice the impact toward holding companies like Dick Van Dam Diary accountable for their animal cruelty offenses, and winning justice for animal victims.
Newborn calves on the farm who required care or medical attention were left to die — their bodies decomposing in the same pens with the mother cows. Injuries to and infections in the cows’ udders emitted puss and even turned the milk pink from blood, requiring the dairy to discard it. Lame cows hobbled over floors slicked with mud and feces, forced to be milked despite their injuries. Cows who could not walk attempted to crawl away from workers who continuously hit them, attempting to make the cows stand. Multiple times, workers misused machinery to lift downed cows up in the air by their hips — suspending them many feet above the ground — and then leaving them in the dirt to die. |

John, we will not stand idly by in the face of this extreme abuse, and we know you won’t tolerate this cruelty, either. We need your help to ensure Dick Van Dam Dairy is held accountable for the pain and suffering they’ve caused cows in their care. Please donate now and your gift will be matched up to a total of $100,000 so that you can have double the impact to fight animal cruelty, win justice for innocent animals, and ensure those who abuse animals face the toughest penalties under the law. There's no better time than now to join our fight to protect animals when you can double the impact of your first gift.
No animal deserves to suffer like these cows have, and with you beside us, we can spare more animals this fate. Our lawsuit alleges the dairy is in clear violation of state and local animal cruelty laws and seeks to close Dick Van Dam Dairy, remove all cows from the facility, and prohibit the managers and supervisors responsible from ever being able to possess or work with animals again. |
Our decades of legal victories for animals prove that when advocates like you speak out for animals, we win — even against the most powerful interests. Together we can give farmed animals better lives and secure stronger legal protections for animals across the country.
But we still need your help, which is why I hope you take advantage of this extended matching gift offer, and double the power of your contribution today to fight for farmed animals and all those who suffer cruelty and exploitation. Thank you! |
For the animals,
