• What's at stake: This isn't the first time Biden has made a serious gaffe on the campaign trail, including:

• What's happening: Real Clear Politics -- which tracks the average among all polls, rather than a single poll -- found that Joe Biden's lead in key battleground states is within 0.5% of Hillary Clinton's lead in 2016.

• What's at stake: First, as with so much else in 2020, this election is unprecedented -- in expected voter turnout, in a surge of early and absentee voting, and in the legal battles that have defined voting rules and procedure changes.

That's likely why even Biden's own campaign manager tweeted <[link removed]> : "But there is still a long way to go in this campaign, and we think this race is far closer than folks on this website [Twitter] think. Like a lot closer."

Second, although we all remember that pollsters and the media got it wrong in the lead-up to the 2016 election, it's helpful to look at how wrong the predictions were.

The Monday before Election Day, one news organization reported that Hillary Clinton had a "90 percent chance" of winning the election <[link removed]> , "roughly similar to last week's odds" -- and would likely carry the Electoral College with 303 votes.

President Trump and his campaign staff have long argued that it's 2016 all over again.

• What's happening: Once again -- and bizarrely, in our opinion -- Joe Biden is off the campaign trail today, just eight days out from the election.

In contrast, as Townhall reports, President Trump will host three rallies today.

• What's at stake: There's no rule about how many campaign events a candidate must hold.

But Biden, largely absent from the campaign trail this summer and early fall, just seems to be less visible as Election Day draws closer.
