[1]Real Justice
John, I am speechless.
Politico is allowing one of the nation’s largest private prison
corporations – which benefits off of mass incarceration and detaining
immigrants – to sponsor their immigration newsletter.
[ [link removed] ]We’re launching a petition demanding that Politico drop their GEO Group
sponsorship. I need you to add your name to it right now, ok? This is one
of the top five grossest moments in journalism in 2019.

GEO wrote a Texas bill to allow prison firms to skip the requirements for
child care facilities, paving the way for them to detain mothers and
children for longer periods of time.
Their business is literally built on maximizing profits from imprisoning
people. They’ve been the subject of a number of egregious lawsuits and
investigations. They’ve forced immigrants and incarcerated people to work
for less than a dollar a day. There have been riots over the inhumane
conditions. People have died in their private jails and prisons. It’s
obscene.
We should be appalled that Politico, which is supposed to help keep the
public informed about national political news, is working hand-in-hand
with the GEO Group. A huge public outcry could force them to drop the
sponsorship, which is why we need everyone reading this email to click and
sign our petition:
[ [link removed] ]Sign our petition to Politico: It’s wrong to take dirty money from one
of the nation’s largest private prison corporations and allow them to
sponsor a newsletter on immigration.
We should all be appalled. Thank you for reading this far and for raising
your voice today.
Shaun
