Supporting Iowa Restaurants during COVID-19

Many industries across Iowa have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the Senate, I’ve been working across the aisle to get our small businesses relief and support.

Our restaurants in Iowa are an essential part of our communities and economy, and many of them have been struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic. That’s why I’m cosponsoring the bipartisan RESTAURANTS Act of 2020, which would establish a grant fund for restaurants and bars negatively impacted by COVID-19.

The grant program will help restaurants keep their employees on the payroll and cover the costs of benefits, mortgages, rent, protective equipment, and food.

As a member of the Senate Small Business Committee, I’ve also been fighting to allow Iowa small businesses a second pass at the Paycheck Protection Program – which has been a critical lifeline for more than 61,000 small businesses in Iowa who’ve faced extremely difficult situations during this pandemic.

Iowa workers and businesses have made it clear that they need additional relief. As we continue to fight this virus, I’ll keep fighting to help them get the support they need during these challenging times.
