John,
Tonight, Mitch McConnell and Senate leadership are poised to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to a lifetime appointment on the U.S. Supreme Court. One of the fastest nomination processes in Supreme Court history.
But, even as they rush through this confirmation, Senate leadership continues to dodge the most pressing issue of the moment: addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic fallout.
A new New York Times/Siena College poll shows that 72% of Americans support a “$2 trillion stimulus package to extend increased unemployment insurance, send stimulus checks to most Americans, and provide financial support to state and local governments.”1 This includes 91% of Democrats, 56% of Republicans, and 67% of Independents.
As unemployment insurance claims continue to rise, 8 million people have fallen into poverty since May. And with the $600 enhanced unemployment benefits having lapsed, and an evictions moratorium and special help for self-employed or gig workers set to expire at the end of December, the American people cannot wait a single additional day for Mitch McConnell to take this pandemic seriously.
We’re demanding the Senate act immediately on the most pressing issue facing the American people: Pass a COVID-19 relief package that puts money directly into the pockets of working people and families, protects millions from poverty and evictions, and prevents harsh cuts to education and other state and local services.
Donate to CHN today to demand immediate action by the U.S. Senate. Mitch McConnell’s inaction is putting the lives of millions of people at risk.

Thank you for fighting to protect millions of working people and families and demanding immediate action to protect the most vulnerable in our communities.
