Dear John,

This year has been relentless. The pandemic, an economic crisis, school closings, violent backlash against the need to address systemic racism… and now the news that Amy Coney Barrett, who will likely be confirmed today as our next Supreme Court justice, helped lead a religious school that taught that “homosexuality is an abomination against God.” Clearly, we have hard work and crucial battles ahead to preserve the values we all hold dear.

In GLSEN’s 30th anniversary year, we have transformed every one of our key programs to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ students grappling with an uncertain world and a new way of being in school. We have taken the fight for LGBTQ+ students online and are reaching every educator we can.

That’s why Respect Everywhere -- a virtual celebration of the student advocates that are at the heart of our work -- is so important during this moment. Be part of this 24-hour coast-to-coast event and chip in to help GLSEN be there for all of our students, for all of the battles ahead. [[link removed]]

In a series of short videos directed by people you know like Octavia Spencer, Antoni Porowski, Matt Bomer, and more, student advocates are the stars -- from a student in rural Georgia who fought to have a GSA to a trans athlete standing up for their right to compete to an immigrant student lobbying for an LGBTQ+ curriculum.

Today we’re setting an ambitious goal of raising $1 million in gifts large and small from supporters like you. These funds will enable GLSEN to build on our 30-year track record of changing the world for LGBTQ+ students by transforming K-12 education, no matter how tough the road ahead. Even a $10 gift can make a huge difference to our work to provide every LGBTQ+ student with a supportive GSA and a GLSEN-trained educator.

Imagine the impact we can have if we all chip in today. Check out these student videos, get inspired, and make your gift. [[link removed]]

J. Abrams, NBC Universal, Nickelodeon, Dean Pitchford & Michael Mealiffe, Tom Hayford & Ben Roy, and Walmart.

Our hard-fought wins would not be possible without supporters like you. Holding the line will not be possible without your contributions now. Thank you for powering GLSEN and creating Respect Everywhere for the millions of students we serve.

Thank you,
Eliza Byard
