John -- I've got all of the dirt on Marcus. Or in campaign speak, I've done all of the "opposition research." That's because I'm his mother.
Good news: there aren't any major skeletons in this closet. I mean... I could tell you several embarrasing stories from Marcus's childhood. I could give you the inside scoop on his biggest pet peeves so you could phone him up and give him a hard time.
I could even give you our complete family history -- starting with how I came to DC from Senegal in the 80's in search of opportunity, how our family settled in Columbia Heights – which looked a lot different back then. Not to mention how much I love teaching my kids at Lafayette Elementary school -- even in the midst of this pandemic.
Believe me, I would love to do all of that and more, but Marcus just elbowed me and told me I need to focus on what's important: That today is the biggest day yet in his campaign for DC Council.
Why? Early in-person voting starts tomorrow morning, and tonight at midnight is the last campaign finance deadline.
That's my son for you, all about taking care of business...
