public comment is almost here!

Take Action!

Dear Defender of
Wildlife,

What's happening to the last surviving North Atlantic right
whales is shocking - and unless we act now, we could lose the
rest of this struggling species.

Only about 400 of these animals survive. Right whales are being wiped
out one by one by brutal ship strikes and horrific entanglements in
fishing gear. The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is taking
public comments as it tries to strengthen federal regulations to
reduce the risk of death and injury to right whales. These regulations
have not been updated in five years - but the whales can't
wait much longer.

Time is running out for the last North Atlantic right whales. Tell the
NMFS to take action now, before we lose the rest of this species!

This crisis has been unfolding for years and must be addressed now.
Adult right whales don't live to old age. Instead, they're
killed by ship strikes and fishing gear entanglements. Entanglements
can drown right whales or cause slow, painful deaths from infections
and starvation.

We've seen 31 documented whale deaths over the last three years.
It's a big ocean out there, so that count doesn't include
the deaths that went undetected, which science tells us are guaranteed
to be higher - much higher. And over the same three years, only
12 new calves have been born. The math is simple - and grim. A
species cannot survive when it loses more than it gains.

This spells doom for right whales. The NMFS has delayed their
protections for long enough - they have a responsibility to act
immediately, before we lose the rest of these whales!

Unless we demand immediate action, help will come too late to save
these whales. Don't let that happen - take a stand right
now for right whales!

Add your comment and demand right whale protections today!
