John,

Christian Pastor John Cao – a U.S. permanent resident – remains wrongfully imprisoned in China for simply living his faith and serving those in desperate need.

We represent his family and are fighting for his freedom. That’s why we’re going back to the U.N. to urge the world to pressure China to release him.

It has been almost 2 and a half years since his wife and children have seen him. And now that he has been transferred to the Kunming Prison to serve the remainder of his 7-year sentence, there is no clear indication of when he might be allowed visitation with them.

We recently presented a crucial written submission to the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC) arguing for his release. China has an obligation to ensure that the rights of all of its citizens are protected, including the rights to freedom of religion and belief.

Now we are preparing to return to the HRC to present a critical oral intervention on Pastor Cao's behalf, asking for his freedom and safe return home to the United States.

Two and a half years is too long for Pastor Cao to have suffered in prison for simply following Christ by caring for the less fortunate.

Please pray for Pastor Cao and his family, and join with us in demanding his freedom.
