Hi Friend,

Did you know that marriage equality will be on the ballot in Nevada this year?

Question 2 on the Nevada ballot seeks to amend Nevada’s Constitution to remove gendered and discriminatory language around marriage. Though marriage equality is secured under the law, Nevada’s Constitution does not yet reflect our values. This amendment helps to make sure that Nevada remains committed to protecting civil rights for all its people.

Question 2 will do the following:

  • Remove an existing provision recognizing marriage as only between a man and a woman, and require the State of Nevada to recognize marriages of all couples, regardless of gender.
  • Require all legally valid marriages to be treated equally under the law.
  • Reiterate an already existing right for religious organizations and clergy members to refuse to perform a marriage. This does not give any additional freedoms to churches and clergy that they don't already have. The Supreme Court affirmed the right of clergy to determine who they will marry in the Obergefell v. Hodges decision.

Same-sex couples in Nevada pay taxes, vote, serve in the military and run small businesses. They deserve to see their state constitution protect their families. With voting already taking place in Nevada, the Yes on 2 campaign needs your support! Equality can’t win without people like you, who will vote YES on Question 2 and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
