Mike is a proven leader. He was Mississippi’s first Black assistant secretary of state and assistant attorney general, and he was the first Black congressman to represent the state since the 1800s. And now, Mike could become the first Black senator to represent Mississippi since Reconstruction.
In the Senate, Mike is committed to advancing progress on important issues facing our country. He wants to lower health care costs, including prescription drug prices, and protect coverage for 600,000 Mississippians with pre-existing conditions. He will fight to strengthen Mississippi’s economy, and support the state’s small businesses -- especially minority-, LGBTQ-, and women-owned businesses.
