The rights that we have all been fighting to protect over the past four years and beyond are at stake in this election. But we're not just talking about the presidency.

Local elections on the ballot are happening across the country right now, and their outcomes are going to be just as critical. And since this is the last full week of voting before Election Day, we're asking you to join us in one more powerful action:

Become an ACLU People Power volunteer today and make calls to voters in key states where civil liberties are on the line. When you do, you can:

• Protect immigrants' rights in South Carolina, by calling voters in Charleston to make sure they know their sheriff candidates' positions on issues like ending contracts with ICE.
• Fight for criminal justice reform and racial justice in Oklahoma, by informing local voters about State Question 805, which will end extreme sentencing for nonviolent offenses in a state with one of the highest incarceration rates.
• Safeguard reproductive freedom and push for police accountability in Arizona, by helping voters in Maricopa County know the crucial facts around candidates running in their county attorney race.

Why are down-ballot races and ballot measures like these so important, ACLU Supporter?

They can be the difference between living in a state that will defend abortion access and not, from being prosecuted for marijuana possession and not – or knowing your lawmakers will work to protect Black lives and not.

This is where one vote truly has an enormous impact. And the more informed people who know that across the country, the more wins for all our civil rights we can achieve this election cycle.
