Rep. Devin Nunes' constituents received some very bizarre mail last week
-- a copy of a book he wrote called Countdown to Socialism.

The manifesto is 90 pages of misinformation attempting to frighten voters
into reelecting him in two weeks. The book accuses Democrats of attempting
to take over industries by manipulating the “mainstream media,” and
“censoring conservatives.”(1)

We don’t have the millions of dollars in campaign funds that Nunes has,
but we do have two powerful weapons on our side: the people and the truth.
We need to ramp up our advertisements to get the Courage California Voter
Guide in front of all voters in Nunes' district to combat this book of
lies.

Nunes' book is not only an underhanded campaign tactic -- he may also be
breaking the law with it.

The book is published by Encounter Books and is sold through Amazon,
Target, and other retailers -- sales from which Nunes earns royalties. And
the Nunes campaign has not disclosed who it paid to get the book sent to
voters.(2)

If the campaign paid for books that Nunes then earned royalties from,
that's a campaign finance violation, which is likely why the campaign
won’t show what it expensed for the purchase.(3)

More important, the book is just propaganda, plain and simple.

Nunes accuses Democrats of using social media to spread lies, claims he
“debunked” the connection between Russia and the Trump campaign, and
outlines a widespread conspiracy between the media and Democrats that has
no basis in fact.(4) Worse, it attacks all Democrats with these lies,
putting races at risk other than his own.

The Nunes campaign put this mess of a book right into the hands of voters,
which is why we need to work even harder to get the Courage California
Voter Guide in front of his district’s constituents. It lays out the
industries -- including fossil fuels -- behind Nunes’ campaign funding, as
well as the federal investigations into his campaign ethics violations.

Moreover, the Voter Guide gives a clear case for voting for Phil Arballo,
including his endorsements and his refusal to take PAC money.(5)

We're within a few points of defeating Devin Nunes, but we need every
resource possible to stop Nunes’ campaign of misinformation. Will you
