The NYS Public Service Commission is at a crossroads. Will they allow the utilities to keep building pipelines and other fracked gas infrastructure or will they order utilities to make energy efficiency and renewable heating available to all New Yorkers?

New York recently passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), a landmark piece of climate legislation, but it is the five members of the Public Service Commission - appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo - who have the power to regulate and implement the state’s energy policy. The decisions they make today will have profound, long-ranging consequences for all New Yorkers and for the climate.

Join the Alliance for a Green Economy and the Renewable Heat Now campaign* in calling Governor Cuomo TODAY to tell the PSC: "We want energy efficiency and clean heat pumps, not dirty gas infrastructure! Move New York to 100% renewable energy NOW!" Please take a minute right now to call the Governor at 877-235-6537 on this important issue.

And join us at the Public Service Commission meeting in Albany on Sept 19th - the eve of the international climate strike -  when the PSC will announce the order for implementing energy efficiency.  We will fill the boardroom, hold signs, and witness whether the agency acts in accordance with the CLCPA, New York’s new climate law. Let’s make sure NY's regulators know we are watching and that we hold them accountable for serving the PUBLIC’s interest and protecting the planet -  not protecting the utilities’ bottom line.
