Friend —
Since Mayor de Blasio launched this petition for a constitutional amendment guaranteeing a right to an adequate education, Americans from all over the country have stepped up to add their names in support.

There are critics out there who say a plan like this is too ambitious, that it can’t get done, that we have to accept less. But that is exactly the type of criticism and fake “concern” Mayor de Blasio pushed right past when naysayers in New York City said universal Pre-K couldn’t get done; now it’s a reality for families throughout the nation’s largest city.
So who’s right? Are the critics right that change is impossible? Or are supporters throughout the country right that we can go out and make big progressive changes a reality if we work together?
In New York City, Bill de Blasio worked with supporters to create universal, full-day, high quality Pre-K for every four year old — and is on the path to expanding that to every three year old. Investing in education is absolutely essential to ensuring that every child has an equal starting point and a truly equal opportunity to live up to their potential. If the Supreme Court won’t recognize that as a right, it’s up to us to create it.
Thanks for lending a hand,
Team de Blasio
