John,
This is a disaster. Nathan Simington, the longtime telecom lawyer who literally authored the “Censor the Internet” executive order we’ve been fighting, has been nominated to join the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).1
The Senate has scheduled a confirmation hearing for just days after the election. This guy is EVEN WORSE than Ajit Pai. We can’t let him be confirmed to the FCC, or it could be the end of online free speech as we know it.
Please chip in to stop this censorship loving telecom lawyer from joining the FCC.
We’re preparing to go into rapid response mode to stop this nomination if we need to. That will mean flooding the Senate with phone calls and emails, organizing meetings with lawmakers, mobilizing small business owners, and more.
Regardless of who wins the election, there’s a chance the Senate could try to ram through this nomination so that Simington can vote to approve the censorship order that he wrote! But even if that doesn’t happen, we’ll still need to mobilize quickly to demand that the administration nominates FCC commissioners that will restore net neutrality, defend online free speech, and take real action to protect our privacy and basic rights.
These FCC nominations are absolutely crucial for Internet freedom, but they don’t get the same level of attention as things like the Supreme Court or other cabinet appointments. That’s why we need people like you, who really understand why this is important, to step up.
Click here to chip in to keep telecom shills off the FCC and demand commissioners who will restore net neutrality and defend Internet freedom.

We’ll keep you posted on this. Hope you’re holding up in these wild times.
