This year's record-breaking natural disasters have shown us just how important it is to protect our planet -- but too many of our leaders are still debating whether or not climate change even exists. That's why I'm proud to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club.

In Congress, I saw that we had a problem -- a $2.5 trillion problem.

When China stopped buying our recyclables, our nation faced a critical backlog. Countless cities were considering abandoning recycling altogether.

So I got to work. I founded the Congressional Plastics Solutions Task Force to promote investment in recycling technologies and use this as an opportunity for American ingenuity and reinvestment.
