Prayer Partner Weekly Update
October 24, 2020

"And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning."

– 2 Samuel 7:10

Africa & Europe

  • Praise God that in the first half of October, IJM and government partners in Ghana were able to conduct three rescue operations to bring identified trafficking victims to safety and arrest the suspects responsible for their enslavement in the fishing industry. In total, 21 trafficked children were rescued, and 15 suspects arrested.

Latin America

  • Praise God for three children who are now free from sex trafficking in the Dominican Republic. Two Haitian girls and a boy, ages 10 to 12, were rescued in an operation spearheaded by the Dominican Police, who also arrested one suspect. Praise God for these children who are now safe in a government-run safe home and for the proactive response of the Dominican Police. Read more about this rescue here.

South Asia

  • Praise God for the successful rescue of two teen girls from a small-town brothel. One of IJM's partner NGOs discovered this case and worked on it with local police; they asked IJM to help by providing security and legal advice. Police also arrested one man and one woman who were selling the girls for sex in the brothel. Praise God for the great collaboration in this case, and please pray for these two girls as they heal in an aftercare home. Learn more about this rescue operation.

Southeast Asia

  • Pray for jobs to be available for returning migrants and survivors of trafficking in Cambodia, as a lack of jobs at home can put people at risk for exploitation and labor trafficking. Pray as well for the team as they begin developing a local survivor network that will create a support system and opportunity to advocate for protection from trafficking.

IJM HQ & Global Partners

IJM headquarters is located in the United States. IJM has international advancement offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

  • Praise God with us for the pilot launch of a major technology project. As we shared with you in May, this project redesigns the IT systems we use to handle the data from our Program Offices. Being able to report on how our work impacts local communities and share data-driven insights on the global problem of slavery is critical to helping us scale our solution to end slavery and violence against those who are poor. Please pray for the first Program Office that will be piloting the system in January.
