That's how much I make at Waffle House. As an essential worker, I'm putting my life on the line for a paycheck that barely covers my bills.

I don't have healthcare. I don't have paid sick days. I don't have hazard pay. I've had enough, and I'm reclaiming my power at the polls.

I voted for the first time this year -- both my job and my life are on the ballot.

I cast my ballot a few days ago by voting early in my home state of North Carolina. It took some planning ahead of time for me to figure out where to vote and how to get there and that's why I'm asking you now: Look up your polling place now and make a plan for how you'll get there on election day - Tuesday, November 3.

For years, I was made to feel that my vote didn't matter. Now I know. Our vote is how we show up for our community and take back the power that billionaire corporations try to take away from us when they deny us a living wage, or basics like healthcare and protective equipment.

Essential workers like us need you to stop what we're doing and make a plan for how you'll vote on November 3.

It's going to take every one of us to get out the vote. Text your friends. Call your grandma. DM your cousins. Do what you gotta do to make sure everyone in your life is heading to the polls.

It will take us all.
