Dear John,
We’re in the final stretch! Election Day is just nine days away. But this year, more than in any past election, November 3rd will mark the end of voting, not the start. And today just happens to be Vote Early Day — the perfect day to cast your ballot, if you haven’t already.
This year, more than ever before, women and feminist voters truly have the power to decide the coming elections. And so, I urge you once again to make your voting plan today—and to vote today, too, if early voting is possible in your state. If you plan to vote absentee or by mail, take five minutes now to find out if your county has secure ballot drop boxes that you can use to avoid having to mail in your ballot and risk delays. Today is the day to get out there and make sure your vote is counted and your voice is heard!
And after you vote, who are the three people you will encourage to vote? Why not reach out to three friends, family members, colleagues, or neighbors and ask them if they have a voting plan in place? This type of person-to-person outreach is known as vote tripling — and it’s an easy way to make a difference in the final days of this election cycle. In fact, if a friend reaches out, a person is twice as likely to get to the polls.
And so today I will leave you with a very simple to-do list:
- Vote early. Today, if at all possible!
- Reach out to three friends and encourage them to vote.
There is so little time left before the most consequential elections of our lifetimes—don’t you want to be able to say you did everything you could? I do, and if I know Ms. readers—you do, too. Let’s keep it up.
For equality,
Kathy Spillar
