Earlier this year, the NDRC set its sights on flipping the Texas state House -- thanks to our grassroots donors, we've already invested in a historic $1.23 million ad campaign in Texas. Now, Texas Republicans are throwing the kitchen sink at down-ballot races to crush our momentum.
Here's a brief recap of what they've done so far:
- First, the RNC and their billionaire donors started rushing million-dollar checks to Texas.
- Then, the Republican Governor Greg Abbott closed dozens of secure drop-boxes across the state to make it harder for Texans to drop off their mail-in ballots.
- Now, Governor Abbott is throwing the full weight of his statewide campaign operation behind saving the Republican majority in the Texas state House.
Republicans know they would lose without gerrymandering. They're barely holding on with the manipulated maps they drew back in 2011 -- imagine what would happen if Democrats took control of the state House and forced the GOP to compete with fair maps.
We can make that happen, but we're running out of time to do it. And we know they wouldn't be working this hard if they didn't believe we could win.
