Advocacy Stories

Dear John,

Last night I was thinking about a kiddo I served when I was an advocate. The mission of WTP is imperative to improving the lives of kids all over Washington. Every day we are working to build a world to prevent violence like the story* below. Our prevention education is based upon a best practice model called the Spectrum of Prevention. More importantly, our work is based upon real stories and real people. By donating to WTP you help provide:
* Youth Prevention Education Program (Middle Schoolers)
* Trafficking Prevention for Schools (High Schoolers)
* Responding to Commercial Sexual Exploitation 101 (teachers and social workers)
* Online Safety for Families
* Human Trafficking 101

When I met Jaylene she was like most of the kids I served - in the system, history of horrific abuse, and in and out of group homes. Schools and social workers alienated Jaylene because they weren't taught how to help kids like her. After Jaylene ran away she was groomed by a pimp, and was forced to sell sex all over Washington. She was only 12 the first time this happened.

I believe that Jaylene's life would have been in a different place if the school, her parents, social workers, group homes, and medical providers would have been prepared to help. The work we do every day at WTP is to create a world where violence like this never happens.
