John --
I’m reaching out because we just got word that Mike’s opponent just dumped another $250,000 of his personal wealth into his campaign account for last-minute ads against us. That brings the grand total he has self-funded this election cycle to over half a million dollars.
Frankly, we anticipated this would happen, but we didn’t expect it in the eleventh hour with less than two weeks to Election Day.
As Mike’s Finance Director, it’s my responsibility to raise the money we need to respond to these attacks. So when our opponent’s ads dropped, we kicked our grassroots fundraising operation into high gear:
Unfortunately, we’re still falling far short of the $50,000 we need to raise to keep our own positive message up on air. Can I count on you to kick in $3 today so I can bring some good news about our goal to Mike and the rest of the team?
If you’ve saved your information with ActBlue Express, your contribution will process instantly.
This final week is about delivering a closing argument to voters -- a positive message focused on Mike’s hard work in Congress and the bipartisan victories for the people of CA-49.
We think our message is far more successful than our opponent’s, but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re at risk of being drowned out by his habit of self funding.
From the very start of this campaign, Mike was clear with me that he wouldn’t take corporate PAC cash. No, he made sure his campaign would be primarily funded by individual donors.
That’s why we’re counting on you to step up right now and help us raise the $50,000 we need to deliver our last pitch:
Can you chip in $3 to help us meet our emergency goal and reach more undecided voters before November 3rd?
Thanks in advance,
Nate Shutman
Finance Director
