Didn't Mayor Pete do a phenomenal job on the debate stage tonight? In a forum that doesn’t provide much room for nuance, he was able to eloquently describe to America the common-sense solutions we need to address our most pressing issues. And his touching answer on professional setbacks will impact so many in our community:

"As a military officer serving under ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’, and as an elected official in the state of Indiana when Mike Pence was governor… I had to wonder whether just acknowledging who I was, was going to be the ultimate professional career setback.”

And while the issues are most important, each time I watch Mayor Pete debate or speak in front of a national audience, I can’t help but think about the young LGBTQ kid in a small conservative town who realizes the possibilities that await them. It’s transformative.
