Why is Trump the most dangerous president in modern American history?

No. It's not just his disastrous policies on health care, the pandemic, the economy, education, the environment, climate change, gun control, women's rights, criminal justice or immigration.

No. It's not just that he is a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe, a homophobe and a religious bigot.

No. The danger of Trumpism goes much, much deeper than that.

Trump is the most dangerous president in modern American history because he is an effective practitioner of the Big Lie and conspiracy theories and, in a very shrewd and calculated way, is undermining American democracy. He is an authoritarian who does not believe in the Constitution, the separation of powers or the rule of law. He is working desperately to suppress the vote and to delegitimize the results of this election if he should lose. He has, in a very significant way, converted the Republican Party into a cult of the individual. He has contempt for a free media and criticism. He has encouraged violence and the never-before-seen use of the military and federal agents against U.S. citizens.

His goal, unprecedented in modern history, is the accumulation of wealth and power for himself and his family, and he will stop at nothing to achieve those ends.

And, if you believe his first term was dangerous, think about what a second term would look like if a majority of Americans vote to support his policies and behavior, and give him a mandate for another four years.

During the last several months my campaign team and I have been doing everything we can to defeat Trump and elect progressive candidates throughout the country up and down the ballot.

We've held virtual get-out-the-vote rallies and town meetings in 12 states including Kentucky, West Virginia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Texas (2), Vermont, Pennsylvania, Michigan (2), Arizona, Nevada and Maine. We've had other virtual rallies focusing on labor, health care, the Latino community, Muslim voters, rural America and young people.

The streams and clips of these events now have more than 20.1 million organic views.

We've held three in-person events in New Hampshire and Michigan and, tomorrow (Saturday), I will be in Pennsylvania for two more events.

Our campaign has endorsed 76 progressive candidates and 57 won or advanced in their primaries in 2020 — a 75 percent win percentage.

We have endorsed eight statewide ballot initiatives and 170+ down-ballot general election candidates.

We have raised more than $3 million for progressive candidates up and down the ballot.

And we have also raised nearly $9 million for social justice organizations, COVID-19 relief and battleground state organizations.
With your help, that's what we've accomplished up to now. But we're not finished yet. There are another 11 days remaining to Election Day and we'll be working hard on every one of those days until we successfully cross the finish line.

This is the most important election in the modern history of the United States and we all have a role to play in its outcome. It is my strong view that if we do everything we can to make sure people vote in large numbers, Joe Biden will win this election. If we do not, we could be saddled with four more years of Donald Trump.
