Hi John,
My name is Qasim Rashid and I’m running for United States Congress. I’m a dad, husband, immigrant, and human rights lawyer. I am running for Congress to transform my advocacy as a human rights lawyer into results for working families and I’m proud to be endorsed by the Sunrise Movement.
Here’s why our race is so critical: I’m sticking to my morals and campaigning on progressive values in a historically red district. I’m unafraid to share my support of policies like the Green New Deal because we need a holistic approach that addresses the climate crisis, economic inequality, and environmental racism. And we need to take action at emergency speeds.
This district used to be red by a large margin. However, my campaign is defying the odds and closing the gap. Support for our campaign is growing by the day and we are now within striking distance to flip this district from red to blue! That’s why I’m reaching out for your support. Donate now and help us make history!
Once elected, I’ll be the first Pakistani American elected to Congress. I’m running against a Republican incumbent, Rob Wittman, who has failed Virginia’s first district and been a supporter of the failed Trump agenda. In fact, my opponent is currently spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on attack ads using Islamophobic smears and fear mongering to defeat me.
NO ONE expected a campaign like ours would be able to flip a red seat to blue in a matter of weeks. We are SO CLOSE to winning this race, but I need you by my side! We need funds to get our message out these last 11 days and counter the smears against our campaign. Will you chip in what you can today?
If we win, we can show that the Green New Deal is a winning agenda, even in historically red districts. Together I believe we can make history. Let’s go win!
Qasim
P.S. We know it’s a hard time for many, so if you’re unable to donate, sign up to help us call voters. Click here to join other Sunrise leaders tomorrow, October 24, to make sure every voter hears about our campaign! Every call matters. Let's win this thing.
