I’m feeling hopeful today, team. The Save Our Stages Act—a bill I introduced to help independent live performance venues survive the pandemic—got a new shot in the Senate. This week, Democrats introduced legislation to help our small businesses stay afloat, and Save our Stages was included. As you likely know, our local performance venues have been devastated by this pandemic. They’ll be some of the last businesses to safely reopen—and without financial support from Congress, 90% of venues will permanently shutter. Our communities and downtowns would be unrecognizable without these venues. We can’t let that happen in Vermont and across the country. That’s why I’m so determined and doing all I can to pass Save our Stages. If you agree that we must do everything we can to save local performance venues nationwide, add your name today.
Make your voice heard in the fight to save our stages—a space to connect with family and friends, a launching pad for new talent, and an important source of livelihood for millions of people nationwide—because without them, our communities wouldn’t be the same. And with 90% revenue loss and some difficult months ahead, they need our help to stay afloat through this pandemic. That’s where the Save our Stages Act comes in, with much-needed grants to cover payroll costs, PPE for employees, rent, and more. With new traction in the Senate, now is the perfect time to speak up: If you’re ready to help me Save our Stages and boost our downtowns nationwide, add your name here! Thank you, Peter
