Talks to continue next week about new Covid restrictions for Nottingham

**A message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:**

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

Cases in Nottingham are coming down but we need to go further. I can confirm that talks are continuing between Government and the council leaders of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe and that those discussions have been constructive.

Our collective priority is to reach a position where any additional measures would offer the strongest possible protection for our most vulnerable people while aiming to also achieve the best outcomes for local businesses, jobs and livelihoods.

We will formally announce any new restrictions and clearly communicate what this will mean for our communities as soon as they are finalised.

We must all continue to do all we can to stem the rate of infection, regularly washing our hands, wearing a face covering in public spaces and maintaining social distance really do make a difference. People who have symptoms of Covid-19 high temperature, continuous cough or loss of taste or smell must self-isolate immediately and book a test by calling 119

We developed our StayingHOME online resource to help families stay happy and healthy in and outside the home over the pandemic. School holidays in the current circumstances must be quite a challenge for local families, so to help people find things to do we refreshed this portal for the half term.

The StayingHOME portal has been made possible with help from teams within Nottingham City Council and partners, as well as national organisations. Many of the online resources linked to from this page are FREE to access and/or download, but you may need to create an account in order to do so. Venues and activities are operating under strict Covid-19 guidelines for everyones safety, which may mean that facilities may not always be available.

Considering the time of year, we look set for fairly decentweather this weekend. Our parks remain open to walkers and cyclists and are an excellent Covid-secure way of getting fresh airand exercise. At our beautiful parks youll find lakes, playgrounds, playing fields, landscaped gardens, historic buildings and much more.

The Wise Owl Walk [ [link removed] ] remains open until 6 November and is a fun trail spanning the city centre. The goal is to find all the Wise Owls which have been placed around the city. Carers across the city are providing a vital lifeline for many of our most vulnerable people. The more we can look after people in their own homes rather than in hospital, the more the NHS can focus on saving lives. We are now starting to recruit for additional temporary care workers to join ourHomecare teams. You dont necessarily need any qualifications or previous work experience as full training will be given but at this time we do need people who can drive. Whats really important is your values and attitude towards working with people who need care and support.
