I know you're flooded with analyses of last night's debate, so I'll try to be brief. While it was better than the first one, it was still an event filled with half-truths, personal attacks, and outright lies. One of the longest-serving GOP lies is the "repeal and replace" line regarding the Affordable Care[[link removed]] Act. Donald Trump doesn't understand healthcare, the deadly impact of taking away coverage, or care about the nearly 220,000 Americans who have died as a result of his mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I worked on the frontlines when the pandemic started; I witnessed firsthand how the Trump administration's disorganization left providers and patients vulnerable. We couldn't get PPE at the birth center, so we had to sterilize our disposable masks daily.
The way Donald Trump comports himself influences the people who follow him. His flip, casual dismissal of the dangers of COVID encourages Americans to continue with unsafe behaviors. Trump's politicization of mask-wearing STILL has people refusing to wear masks in public. I remember a young woman who saw me in scrubs and a mask at the grocery store and pointed and laughed. She mocked a healthcare provider because that's how she saw the POTUS behaving.
Trump's bad attitude toward experts, lack of organization, and refusal to learn is killing people. We need an actual leader in the White House, and healthcare providers at the policy-writing table. I am proud to stand with Joe Biden, and I am running for Congress to put my experience fighting for patients and keeping people healthy to work for the nation.
Please chip in what you can so we can win this election [[link removed]] .
Thank you,
