Focus on the Family to Air Pro-Life Get-Out-the-Vote Commercials on Fox News and CNN

By: Zachary Mettler

Focus on the Family is launching an exciting, new, pro-life get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort that will reach millions of potential voters during the final two weeks of this year’s election cycle.

The cornerstone of the campaign is a new commercial that will run on Fox News and CNN this week. The ad is titled “A Child’s Right to Dream.”

Appearing three times on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” once on Wednesday and twice on Friday as well as twice on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” once on Wednesday and once on Thursday, the commercials will reach millions of viewers and potential voters.

The ad features the story of a preborn baby whose mother’s doctor encouraged her to abort. She refused, and her son was born premature and was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Today, that preborn baby is Dr. Tyler Sexton, M.D., who lives a full life serving kids as a pediatrician.

Happy Holidays! California
Happy Holidays! California Releases New Rules for ‘Private Gatherings’ During COVID Lockdown
By: Jeff Johnston

With Thanksgiving just five weeks away, and Christmas not too far behind, the California Department of Public Health (DPH) recently released new “Guidance for Private Gatherings.” The October guidance “provides an updated plan for Californians to gather outside their household and replaces the prior gatherings guidance issued on September 12, 2020 and March 16, 2020.”

According to the DPH, “Gatherings are defined as social situations that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space or place. When people from different households mix, this increases the risk of transmission of COVID-19.”

Support for Amy Coney Barrett
Support for Amy Coney Barrett Nomination Grows Even as Media Continues Attacks on Religion
By: Bruce Hausknecht

Public support for the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett continues to grow since she was first nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court by President Donald Trump on September 26. At the same time, media stories continue to surface in a last-ditch attempt to trash Barrett’s religious affiliations and beliefs.

A new Morning Consult Poll reveals that 51% of voters now approve of Barrett’s confirmation, up 14 points from the first poll taken after Trump announced her nomination. Just 28% of those surveyed between October 16 and 18 for the poll oppose her confirmation.

It’s a higher level of support than either of the two previous nominees for the high court, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, enjoyed at any time during their confirmation processes.
Defund the Pentagon
Growing Movement to Defund the Pentagon Would Leave America Vulnerable to Attack
By: Brittany Raymer

There is a growing movement among certain liberal politicians and others advocating for the defunding of the Department of Defense. They argue that instead of focusing on national security, the money could be better spent on social welfare programs. It’s a dangerous suggestion that would leave the United States vulnerable to attack.

There have been many calls this year to defund police departments throughout the country over unsubstantiated allegations that officers are broadly racist and purposefully target African Americans, but some are taking it a step further and have now set their sights on the Department of Defense.

Pope Francis
Pope Francis Contradicts Clear Church Teaching on Same-Sex Unions
By: Glenn T. Stanton

The Catholic News Agency (CNA) is reporting, and many other major outlets have picked up, that Pope Francis states his explicit support for legally recognizing same-sex civil unions in a new documentary Francesco, which tells the story of the  Pontiff’s life and work. The film premiered today as part of the Rome Film Festival. CNA quotes Francis as saying that regarding long-term same-sex relationships, “What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered.” He adds, “I stood up for that.” Filmmaker Evgeny Afineevsky told CNA that the Pope made these statements during an interview for the film.

Such a position, however, is in direct opposition to the historic and official teaching of the Catholic Church.
