John,
The vote whether or not to confirm Amy Coney Barrett is coming. [1] Her confirmation to the Supreme Court would be a tremendous step backward for abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, access to health care, and many other intersecting issues.
Don’t be defeated. Continue to fight.
Barrett’s past makes her unsuitable for the highest court. She has signed her name to anti-abortion ads – an ad by an organization also supportive of criminalizing IVF fertility treatments [2], ruled that a supervisor using a racial slur did not establish a hostile work environment [3], and wrote a decision making it easier for men alleged to have committed sexual assaults on campus to challenge the proceedings against them. [4]
Each one of these is horrible; combined they are unfathomable. She must be stopped.
Pushing through her nomination, during a chaotic pandemic as well as a presidential election that has already seen thousands of votes cast in-person and by mail, is not just a sham, it’s wrong.
Give to show you agree.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson
