Hey , Despite the 80 degree weather, this weekend marks the start of traditional Get Out the Vote campaigning! Things are a little different this year in more ways than I can name, but the importance of these last 10 days of campaigning are just as important as in any normal year - if not more. We need as much volunteer energy as possible to carry us through the finish line. The Blue Wave that came over Virginia each year
since 2016 shows how much we can accomplish when we fight hard, and we don’t hold back. While it looks like Biden will be fine in Virginia, and our Senator Mark Warner is looking even better, it is not time to sit back and celebrate just yet. We have three highly contested House districts in our state, re-electing Elaine
Luria and Abigail Spanberger, as well as electing the first-ever Black physician to Congress, Cameron Webb. North Carolina has one of the tightest races both for the Senate, and the Presidential. Most polls show both races within the margin of error, and they can use all the help they can get in these last ten days. The North Carolina Young Democrats are having a GOTV Day of Action tomorrow, October 24th, with shifts starting at 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm. Florida and Pennsylvania, both of which voted for Trump in 2016 but are trending towards Biden currently, could secure victory in the electoral college - they have
daily opportunities for both phone calls and text banking. With basically a week until the most significant election to date, I want to ask you to use your free time to volunteer. I know we can all remember the feeling waking up the day after the election in 2016. We can make a choice and take action so that we don’t have to relive that feeling. The clock is ticking. Let’s get to work. Maureen Coffey President, Virginia Young Democrats
