For Maha, a new U.S. citizen, voting is a civic duty.

John,
Why does voting matter to you?

This is a question we would love for you, an IRC supporter, to answer as we get closer to the election.

For refugees like Maha, voting represents hope.

Maha — an Iraqi refugee and new U.S. citizen — is looking forward to exercising her civic duty for the very first time during the 2020 presidential election.

"Voting is a chance for everyone to share their voice with others to improve things," she says. After fleeing Iraq, Maha was resettled by the IRC in New York. She now works as a Quranic and Arabic teacher.

As an IRC supporter, we know you care about refugees like Maha. We also know that you believe in making a difference around the world.

Will you take a moment to tell us why you're voting? We'll be sharing a few responses in an upcoming email to inspire others.

With gratitude,

Andrea Kost
