An Important Victory, Thanks to You
In a big win for kids, last month Congress and the White
House reached a bipartisan deal to fund the government through
December 11, 2020 that includes nearly $8 billion for two nutrition
provisions that are essential to feeding kids and families during the
COVID-19 pandemic:
1. Pandemic EBT: The bill expands Pandemic EBT and extends
it through the end of the current school year. This program provides
money for groceries to families whose children are missing free or
reduced-price meals at school.
2. Child Nutrition Waivers: The bill gave the USDA the
authority and funding to extend waivers that give schools and
community organizations much-needed flexibility for how they serve
meals during the pandemic. This legislation removes the last roadblock
to USDA extending these waivers through the end of the current school
year.
Many of you wrote or emailed your elected representatives
in Washington. It made a difference.
We will continue to advocate for compassionate, bipartisan
assistance for children and families struggling with the current
crisis. Thank you in advance for your help!

Meet Rhonda Jacskon, Louisiana State Director
When you support No Kid Hungry, you're supporting a
talented team of hunger fighters working across the country to get
food to the kids who need it most.
In this video interview with No Kid Hungry's Louisiana
State Director Rhonda, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at what it
takes to get food to kids during these difficult times.
"The whole goal is to make sure kids get healthy meals in
safe environments," she says.
That's especially hard right now with school closings,
mass unemployment and rising coronavirus infections. And yet Rhonda's
optimism, even in spite of the current challenges, shines through.
Thank you for all you do to make possible the work of
Rhonda's and her dauntless colleagues all across America.

Food being handed out
"If you ever wonder whether the funds of a [national
organization] trickle down to make a difference in the lives of
students in a small town, just come to Georgia. Those kids are
getting meals because of you. Show me a child who doesn't eat well and
I'll show you a child who doesn't learn."
-Superintendent of Marietta, Georgia schools Grant Rivera.
