We won. And it’s because of you.
 
I’ve never felt so humbled in any endeavor as I did in this election. The tremendous, overwhelming outpouring of support from citizens in every county of the 9th district all the way up to the President of the United States was just incredible.
 
So many of you invested long hours, knocked doors, made calls, put up signs, or gave money to help us run the campaign we needed to win. On behalf of my wife, Jo and I and our son, Jack, THANK YOU.
 
If you’re wondering how we pulled it out after trailing or running even with our opponent for most of the race, look no further than Monday’s barnstorm through the district. Vice President Pence hosted a lunchtime rally and made campaign stops in towns across the 9th, until we met up with President Trump for the closing rally in Fayetteville. Their help accelerated our momentum in the closing stages and pushed us over the finish line. Here’s how I described it the morning after the election:
The President and Vice President put their weight behind our campaign because they knew what this victory would mean for 2020: It’s the first step toward retaking control of the U.S. House, removing Nancy Pelosi as speaker and making Congress work again for the American people.
 
It’s also why Washington Democrats are so furious that we won. I won’t even be sworn in until next week, but they’re already looking for revenge and plotting to defeat me when I file for re-election in a few months.
 
That’s ok. We’ve shown them and shown the country that we won’t back down when it comes to defending American values. That’s why I ran: to stand with President Trump and the conservative principles we share. And that’s what I’m going to do in Congress.
