President Trump names acting national security adviser once tied to group known for anti-Muslim stance <[link removed]>
President Trump named Charles M. Kupperman as acting national security adviser following John Bolton’s departure this week. Kupperman served nine years on the board of directors for the Center for Security Policy <[link removed]>. The SPLC first designated the Center for Security Policy an extremist group in 2015, five years after Kupperman left the board. But while Kupperman was on the board, its founder, Frank Gaffney <[link removed]>, and the center trafficked in anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and rhetoric, including questioning whether President Barack Obama was a Muslim.

New report highlights dangers in industry SPLC seeks to reform <[link removed]>
A new report from Human Rights Watch echoes the SPLC’s concerns for workers in the meatpacking industry who suffer alarmingly high rates of serious injury and chronic illness. Trump administration policies will worsen already dangerous conditions by allowing more poultry companies to increase the speed of slaughter, also known as “line speeds.” The SPLC has exposed dangers <[link removed]> in this industry, including workers often placing their health – and even lives – at risk as they attempt to keep up with the frantic pace.

Resources for National Suicide Prevention Week <[link removed]>
It’s Suicide Prevention Week, and the SPLC’s Teaching Tolerance project recognizes that, while educators cannot and should not act as mental health professionals, they do play a critical role in the lives of young people. These resources will help teachers create schools and climates where all children know they’re seen, valued and supported – particularly if they find themselves in a crisis.
