Friends,
Trump’s recently proclaimed that “A lot of Puerto Ricans don’t want statehood. They’re doing better the way it has now, frankly.”
We’ll find out how true that is when Puerto Ricans vote on statehood on November 3. We know the movement has considerable backing from the mainland -- even Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he’d “love” to make Puerto Rico a state.
Trump is clearly scared of what will happen when 3.2 million American citizens finally get the representation in Washington that they deserve. Without statehood for Puerto Rico, Trump believes it his prerogative to utterly neglect it -- the reason why the island is still reeling from Hurricane Maria’s devastation more than three years later.
Friend -- we can’t let Trump continue to treat Puerto Rico like the “shithole country” that he thinks millions of American citizens live in. We firmly believe Puerto Ricans deserve statehood. A 2019 Gallup poll found that two-thirds of Americans also support this, but we need more recent numbers. That’s why we’re asking for your view now:
Do you support statehood for Puerto Rico?
Thank you for standing with us,
