The people of Dayton, Ohio, asked us to do something after a mass shooting devastated their community.
On Monday, I joined Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley along with Senate Minority Leader Schumer, House Speaker Pelosi, and more Democratic colleagues to implore President Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell to immediately address gun violence.
Our first order of business in the Senate should be the background check measure advanced by the House. Sign your name if you agree.
This cannot wait. During the month of August, mass shootings took 53 lives in Dayton and Texas.
There’s no reason to wait. The majority of Americans support stronger gun-safety laws: 86% support red flag laws, 89% support expanding background checks, and 8 in 10 gun-owning households support both measures.
Sign your name and call on Trump and McConnell to listen to the will of the American people and advance commonsense background checks.
With gratitude,
Sherrod
