President Trump signs bipartisan bill in honor of four
fallen servicemen
What’s New:
Last week, President Trump signed my bipartisan bill to honor four servicemen who tragically died in a
B-47 Bomber crash in 1962. After nearly six decades, the memory and
service of Capt. Bill Faulconer, Lt. Fred Hixenbaugh, Lt. David
Sutton, and Lt. Lloyd Sawyers will be forever memorialized at the site of
their crash in Park County, Montana.
Why It Matters:
For years, their families and local advocates
have worked to place a memorial plaque at the site of the crash
located on a ridge off Emigrant Peak. However, bureaucratic red tape made
it impossible. That’s why I worked withthe localcommunity and the
families of the fallen servicemembers to introduce a bill that would
name the ridge “B-47 Ridge” and allow the placement of a
memorial plaque so that visitors to the site will know what happened
and that the memory of these brave men will live on for generations to
come.
Whats Next:
I am
proud to have worked with my colleagues in Congress to get this bill
signed into law, including Congressman Gianforte who championed the bill
in the House and Senator Tester who joined me to pass it in the Senate.
I look forward to the day we can hike up B-47 Ridge to place the
memorial plaque in honor of these brave servicemen and their families.
Best Wishes,
Steve Daines
