Hastings-quinte paramedic services looking for new applicants

Hastings County has put out a call for paramedics. The Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Service is looking for Advanced Care Paramedics to make additions to their emergency response team and Difficult Access Team. Applicants must be in full compliance with the Ambulance Act and must have an advanced care paramedic certificate from a recognized college.

Amherst man's cancer surgery cancelled after ambulance no-show

An Amherst, N.S., woman is speaking out after her husband's cancer surgery was cancelled because the ambulance that was supposed to transfer him to the procedure did not show up. "This is not acceptable," Sharon Duffy said in a telephone interview from the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday.

Winnipeg paramedics use drone to rescue patient in remote park area

Winnipeg paramedics were able to rescue a person in medical distress with the help of a drone Wednesday afternoon. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) said the patient was in a remote, wooded part of Lagimodière-Gaboury Heritage Park in St. Boniface when they called 911 just after noon.

Mayors blast terrible rural ambulance response times

Mayors and community leaders in small–town New Brunswick say they weren't surprised at all by this week's scathing report by the auditor general about ambulance response times. The audit shows that in many rural and remote communities, Ambulance New Brunswick fails to respond to 90 per cent of calls within its target of 22 minutes.

Unions look to government for more support to ease strain on paramedics

Ryan Woiden, president of Winnipeg’s paramedic union (MGEU Local 911) told the Winnipeg Sun on Monday there needs to be more than conversation about the state of paramedics in Winnipeg, adding Shared Health is responsible for ambulance and paramedic resources as of 2019.

Two paramedics were assaulted by a patient in a hospital emergency department late last month, said Michael Nickerson, business agent and president of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 727.
