Dear John,
Every October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Giffords Law Center joins with advocates, survivors, and policymakers to recognize the particular dangers of domestic violence.
The nexus of guns and domestic violence puts women in the US, who are 21 times more likely to be killed with a gun than women in other high-income countries, at tremendous risk. Over one million American women alive today have been shot or shot at by an intimate partner.
We know laws that comprehensively protect victims of domestic violence enjoy broad bipartisan support. As we witness increases in gun sales, isolation, stress, and financial instability during the pandemic, we must fight for better policies that protect the lives of vulnerable members of our communities.
Our experts are working tirelessly to save lives from domestic violence, but we can’t do this important work without your support.
Thank you,
Julia
