Just this morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance
President Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, an extremist
judge, to the Supreme Court.

Though the committee's Democrats boycotted this vote, Republicans skirted
the panel's rules to recommend her confirmation. It is clear that Senate
Republicans are hellbent on pushing this illegitimate nomination through,
and we need to be ready to act if and when they do.

That's why — should Amy Coney Barrett be confirmed this upcoming Monday
with the full Senate vote — we're advocating for expanding the court by
increasing the number of Supreme Court justices. [ [link removed] ]Will you add your name
to Jamaal's petition — in partnership with Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, the
Working Families Party, and others — to call upon Congress to expand the
court in the event of Barrett's confirmation?

Ever since the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg over a month ago,
the Trump administration and the Republican Senate have been trying to
push through Barrett's illegitimate nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court.

With Barrett on the Supreme Court, issues around healthcare access,
reproductive rights, and LGBTQ rights are at risk — and will be for
decades in what will be an ultra-conservative majority. Most immediately,
the Affordable Care Act could be struck down, leaving millions of
Americans uninsured during a dangerous, once-in-a-generation pandemic.

But there is one possible solution: expanding the Supreme Court, or
increasing the number of justices. There's nothing in the Constitution
that dictates the size of the Supreme Court, and it has fluctuated in size
from as few as five to as many as 10 before settling at the current number
of nine justices. By increasing the number of seats, we can ensure that
the highest court in the nation isn't overruled by an extremist majority
for decades to come.
