Join the fight for statehood at a historic Congressional hearing next week
For the first time in two decades, the House will be holding a hearing on DC statehood. They’ll be considering HR 51, which would make DC the 51st state. We’re trying to flood the halls of Congress with DC residents. Will you #ShowUp4DC?

Without statehood, members of Congress have interfered with DC politics for their political gain:
- Pushing legislation to eviscerate DC’s gun laws
- Blocking DC from using locally-raised dollars on HIV/AIDS prevention for intravenous drug users
- Silencing the will of DC voters on marijuana legalization by prohibiting DC from establishing taxation and regulation of cannabis
- Prohibiting locally-raised funds from covering abortion services through Medicaid
- Prohibiting domestic partner benefits and threatening to overturn marriage equality in DC
