Statewide Survey:
Californians and Their Government
Mark Baldassare, Dean Bonner, Alyssa Dykman, Rachel Lawler
|
Key findings
- In the presidential race, Biden maintains a wide lead over Trump, and Californians are more enthusiastic about voting than usual.
- Views fall along party lines for confirming Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court, while majorities across parties oppose overturning Roe v. Wade.
- On ballot measures, likely voters are divided on Proposition 15, the “split roll” property tax, and support is low for Proposition 16, which would reinstate affirmative action.
- At least half of Californians would get a COVID-19 vaccine, but two in three are concerned about a vaccine being rushed.

About the survey
The PPIC Statewide Survey delivers objective, advocacy-free information on the perceptions, opinions, and public policy preferences of California residents. PPIC’s survey team invites input, comments, and suggestions from policy and public opinion experts and from its own advisory committee, but survey methods, questions, and content are determined solely by the survey team. PPIC relies on a rigorous survey methodology and is a charter member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research Transparency Initiative. The PPIC Statewide Survey is conducted regularly throughout the year in the key areas of government, the environment, K–12 education, and higher
education.
