Boston School Committee Chairperson Michael Loconto resigned Thursday amid public pressure after he appeared to mock names of people signed up for public comment during a meeting Wednesday night.
Several Boston politicians, including at least seven city councilors, had called for Loconto to resign. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, who described Loconto’s comments as “hurtful and wrong," said just before noon on Thursday that he had accepted the board chair’s resignation from the school committee.
