Oppose the Yazoo pumps

Dear John,

The Trump Administration has made an unprecedented move to undermine the Clean Water Act, taking one step closer to start construction of the Yazoo Pumps before January 20th. The Yazoo Pumps is a project so harmful it was vetoed by the George W. Bush administration.

Clean Water Act vetoes are supposed to be final and they are applied sparingly. Only 13 have ever been issued since the Act was signed into law in 1972. But the Trump Administration wants to get rid of the veto power.

The Yazoo Pumps project is shockingly irresponsible. While the project will drain wetlands to make more land available for cultivation, it will also increase flood risk for 41,000 people in the Mississippi-Yazoo Delta.

The impacted land includes 200,000 acres of globally important wetlands in the heart of the Mississippi River flyway, a wildlife corridor that supports hundreds of species of fish, birds and bugs on their international migration paths; millions of animals and birds will be affected

Act NOW! Tell the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that you oppose the Yazoo Pumps.

Thank you,

Olivia Dorothy
