Personally Speaking: My Family’s Secret is Nothing to be Ashamed of
Hello John,

We are excited to share with you the third Personally Speaking blog in our 12-part series of staff stories. This week’s blog was written by our director of advocacy, Lisa Dailey.

In the blog, Lisa shares the story of her family’s history with mental illness. Her experience watching her sister struggle with schizoaffective disorder, and later learning that her great-grandmother Ruby was institutionalized for over 40 years, inspired her to join the Treatment Advocacy Center and advocate for better treatment laws for those with serious mental illness.

For Lisa, her work is personal. As she writes in her blog, “I fight to give people the chance to escape Ruby’s fate by advocating for a focus on continued medical advances for people with severe mental illness.”

We know that you may have friends and family members with severe mental illness and this work is personal for you, too.

To support out mission and ensure that we can continue fighting to change the system, make a donation, here.

Please make your gift to the Treatment Advocacy Center today.

Thank you.
