You’re Invited…Conservatives believe in a limited government because we know it is prone to error, inequality, and corruption. Our constitution was enacted to enshrine individual rights and restrain the government for this reason – we know an unchecked government can hurt people and tread on their rights. But today, no true conservative could argue that our system has worked as intended. The government has ballooned in power while at the same time chipping away at our liberties. All Americans suffer as a repercussion of this, but some suffer more than others. Increasingly, conservatives and libertarians are becoming aware of the real, persistent racial bias in our systems. It isn’t enough to just be right about the problems with big government, though. We have to do something about it. At Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, we believe it is not enough to oppose racism in theory. We need to work to eradicate racism – especially from our justice system. What does that look like for conservatives? How can we build a conservative movement to end racism that is aligned with our values? We’re glad you asked!
